About this book
Inspiration from The Qur'an — A New Paradigm asks how the Qur'an speaks to the mind and character of a reader today. Dr. Badr Hashemi proposes a paradigm in which revelation is engaged not only as law and history, but as a source of cognition, reflection and moral formation.
The book traces themes of knowledge, communication and character through the text — including the qualities that earned the Prophet (peace be upon him) the titles Al-Sadiq and Al-Amin long before prophethood — and draws out what they ask of the reader's own intellect and conduct.
It is a reflective, essayistic work: shorter than the translations, and intended to be read slowly and returned to.
